A Guide to Shopping at CVS

At first glance, CVS can be a confusing place to shop.  Before you even start, make sure you head on into your nearest store and sign up for their Extra Care Membership, or you can do that HERE.  If you sign up in the store, you'll get your membership card right away.  Otherwise you won't get your card for a couple weeks.

Having their card will allow you to score some great deals in their store.  Just make sure they scan your card at the beginning of the transaction.

Extra Care Bucks or ECBs are rewards that CVS gives you that can be used like money (with very few exclusions).  Every week they have advertised ECB deals!  And almost every week you can get something for free with an ECB deal.  ECBs come at the bottom of your receipt and usually don't expire for at least a couple of weeks.

Here's a helpful hint so you don't lose your ECBs or forget that you have them-keep them in your wallet with your money!

Another great program CVS has is their Green Bag Tags.  You can buy them for $2, but they do run sales on them every couple of months so you can score them for FREE!  The Green Bag Tags can be scanned every time you use your own reusable bag when you shop at CVS.  Every 4th time your Green Bag Tag gets scanned, you get $1 ECB!

If you have any questions, please ask.  You can leave a comment or email me at

Happy CVS shopping!

Lack of Coupons in Bis-Man

Did you know that the Sunday coupon inserts vary from city to city?  Well, I found that out when I lived in Fargo.  I started buying the Minneapolis Star Tribune because their coupon inserts had waaaaay more coupons in them than the Fargo inserts.

Well, now that I'm in Bismarck, I see that our inserts aren't very good, either!  And guess what else?  We can't get the Star Tribune anywhere in this town!  I guess Barnes and Noble used to carry it, but not enough people bought it.  And just so you know, we will never be able to get most of the good deals with just the inserts from the Bismarck Tribune :(

So, being the extreme cheapskate that I am, I contacted the Star Tribune and am waiting to hear back from them.  I'm curious to know how many papers would have to be purchased each weekend to make it profitable for them.

If I could get them to deliver to Bismarck, how many of you would be willing to purchase papers?  I really want them to deliver here.  Right now I have a good friend in Fargo who sends me to Star Tribune inserts each week, and it would save me on shipping if they just delivered here!

Leave me a comment if you think you'd buy the Star Tribune if it was in town each weekend.  I'm curious to know how many of you out there would.

How many of you buy coupons online?  Where do you buy them?  We need more coupons here!

Coupon Stacking

So have you heard of coupon stacking? Well a lot of stores are now allowing their own store coupons to be "stacked" with a manufacturer's coupon on one item.

The store I most frequently stack coupons at is Target. Target has tons of store coupons HERE Match them with a manufacturer's coupon and a good sale, and you have yourself a great deal!

Another helpful hint when handing the cashier your coupons is to put the manufacturer's coupon on top of the Target coupon. The computer will give you less grief, and the cashier can just scan away!

Happy stacking!
